A few days away or a longer holiday in the middle of the Swedish forests? Come and visit our cozy cottage Badger's den! The cottage is complete with a small kitchen and a private bathroom. Just outside the window you see all kinds of birds and squirrels. Additionally, you can use the unique photo hide which views over the bird and wild feeder. Just to enjoy or to take photos.

Facilities

Photo hide and photography

Photo hide for two people to watch the wildlife and bird feeders as well as the drinking pond. It is a great place to photograph mammals, birds and insects. To get an impression of the possibilities take a look at our photos or blog.

Especially suitable for animal photography in a natural environment. There are viewing hatches and camouflage material. The animals are fed daily. If desired extra food can be provided for both birds and mammals. Addionally, materials like branches, are available to make your own composition.
Mammals: Regular guests are roe deer, badgers, hares, squirrels and voles. Quite often foxes, pine martens and wild boars visit, sometimes also a moose. We have even spotted a red deer and lynx!
Birds: Common bird visitors are a.o. nuthatch, all kinds of tits, great spotted woodpecker and much more. The tawny owl breeds nearby every year and comes over to catch mice. Regularly the white-tailed eagle flies over. In spring and summer you can hear the Eurasian bittern. Depending on the season it is also possible to see a.o. hooded crows, bullfinches, yellowhammers, hawfinches and long-tailed tits.
Insects: Even insect lovers are at the right spot - there are a.o. many dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies.
When the weather is good it is possible to sleep in the photo hide (by one person on an air mattress).
Northern lights: Between September and April there is a chance to see northern lights. This happens multiple times a year, but of course this can unfortunately not be planned.
Stars: Because there is very little light pollution there also are great possibilities for astrophotography. Our location is on the border between Bortle 3 and 4.

Living room

Cozy living room with a view of the bird and squirrel feeder right next to the cottage and the wild feeder a bit further away.

Comfortable sofa bed (double). Alternatively, the sofa bed can be used by one person and an air mattress by the other person.

Spacious closet with some entertainment stuff and room for your own belongings.

Compact kitchen with warm and cold water and all basic equipment.

Recreation

There are many options for recreation in nature, but also people who love culture have opportunities.

Photo hide
Swim in one of the many lakes. Some are recreational areas with facilities, but it is also possible to find your own private lake.
Hiking (see also the hiking routes)
There are beautiful cycle routes nearby. Preferably, you need a mountain bike, because of the many gravel roads. Additionally, reflective clothing and a helmet are recommended and common.
A trip by car to explore a larger area of the beautiful nature. Take a look at the car trips.
City trips. The nearest city is Norrköping (half an hour by car). Stockholm is an hour and a half away.
The closest supermarket is in Björkvik, 10 minutes by car. In addition there are shopping centers in Norrköping, Katrineholm and Nyköping. Norrköping is for people who like a big city, Katrineholm and Nyköping for those who prefer a quieter shopping experience. The cities are approximately half an hour drive by car. Policy

Arrival time
In general between 15 and 20 o’clock but another arrival is usually possible when discussed in advance.
Departure time
Until 12 o'clock.
Children
Children aged 10 years or older are very welcome, but our cottage is not suitable for younger children. Because the feeders are very close to the cottage, we try to maintain a quiet environment, so the animals are not scared away. For the same reason it is not possible to use a baby crib.
Pets
Even though we love all animals and have pets ourselves, we do want to keep the cottage pet-free to prevent problems for other guests with allergies.
Smoking and barbecue
It is not allowed to smoke or barbecue because of fire risk. People who want to barbecue can use one of the many public barbecue spots nearby.
Payment
The booking is only confirmed after payment of the rental fee by bank transfer. It is possible to pay in Euros or in Swedish kronor. The deposit is paid at arrival in cash or by bank transfer. Upon departure this amount is refunded.
Cancelation
Cancellation is possible up to 2 days before arrival. You will receive a full refund for cancellations made 60 days or more in advance. For cancellations made 30 days or more in advance, you receive 50% and for cancellations made 2 days or more in advance, 25%.
