A very special encounter of a mother with a baby squirrel!
Normally I am not a big fan of nest photography, and especially of disturbances, but this was a special case. The squirrel had decided to make a nest on a beam of our veranda next to our frontdoor. With sunny weather since the last week we are sitting there more often now and she was fairly tolerant of us, but this afternoon she decided that the noisy neighbours were a bit much. She has now moved her young to another backup nest, which is probably for the best. We will not disturb her anymore there.
It was very special to see this happen though. Very unlikely that we will see something like this so close-up again! 🙂
